I have yet to find a game as enjoyable as Bard's Tale. When Bard's Tale IV hits the shelves, it would be great to see a Mac version as well. Don't want to think about how much money I've spent trying to replace BT I, II, III when they weren't packed when I moved across the country. Please bring out BT IV!

Bard's Tale was the perfect RPG. I don't like this new RPG's where you have to do everything with your mouse, Bard's Tale was much faster to use and to type the spells was like to cast them by yourself. I also dislike that in new RPG's, when you killed the monsters, they are gone forever, so it's impossible just to go out, slay the monsters and gain levels what was great fun in BT. So please bring out a new Bard's Tale with better graphics and sound, but with the same interface BT 1-3 had.

The Bard's Tale is the best game I've ever played (close followed by Planescape: Torment).

I still keep the hand made map of Skara Brae that took me so many months to draw, and the inscription on the other side: some day in 1993, at 3 am, about Los Porpuras (my party) reaching the Glory.

The 4th. one would be, I've always known and still do, perhaps the only game I would buy without the need for a preview, a demo or even screenshots. I do very much look forward to it, and hope many more will enjoy a similar experience to the one I had.

I've heard of this petition through a PC-Magazin here in Germany. I once was a very great fan of BT in the old C64's times. I can think of nights I played all episodes for hours and hours. I'd very like to see the BT's to continue. Hope you'll succeed! (and I hope my english is better than I think of... *smile*)

Hi, I'm from german and my english isnt that good, so i hope you understand, what i want to tell you... I played Bards Tale 1-3 on Commodore C64 and i find it VERY GREAT. My greatest wish is, that Interplay(?) will bring Bards Tale 4 to us, with a little better graphik NO REAL TIME FIGHTS... I loved reading the scrolling textes during the battles, and the same game-structure.

I hope, this is enough for the petition...

THE BARDS TALE - SERIES ARE THE BEST GAMES, I'VE EVER PLAYED ON ANY COMPUTER ------ PLEASE GIVE US BARDS TALE 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What I loved about Bard's Tale was it's mystique. I find this missing in just about all of the newer games. It was very deep and intriguing and yet simple and fun. It took thinking and calculation. The only place to save your game (in the Atari computer version I had) was back at the adventurers guild. If you didn't make it back, too bad so sad. This gave it a challenge few other games today can offer because there was that chance that you may never return. There always seemed to be fights that were exciting - you didn't know whether you would win or not and even if you did, could you make it back up however many dungeon levels to safety before you were wiped out. There was no rear area. There was no such thing as a secured area. Your Tactical Area of Operations was overrun and it was search and destroy. There were no "friendlies". Only enemies that you may wander into at any time or place. Would you end up in a no magic zone or lost zone that would leave you wandering forever in some remote corner of a dungeon? Nothing was certain. This gave it a suspenseful edge that kept me chewing my fingernails as my battered team limped home to lick it's wounds, resupply or bring a deceased member back to life at a temple(oftentimes more than one deceased member if I pushed my luck too far). There are just some things that cool graphics and special F/X can't take the place of. The realism was there without all the pretty pictures. It was a true adventure game. To be honest I would like to see all the Bard's Tale games re-released in an updated version. I believe it would catch on with some improvements to the interface so all the FX junkies would be appeased. (although I would play it as is). Goddamn I miss that game!

The Bard's Tale series has entertained me for endless hours. It is definitely time for a new update and part IV for this legacy of great RPG games. I grew up on this game as many, many others have and desperately desire another sequel. Please make another.

Although the game market has changed drastically in the last 10 years, I believe that Bard's Tale style games (or an adaptation of one) can still be a hit with most consumers. Many people grew up in the late 80's early 90's playing games like Bards Tale and just for the sake of old memories, will buy Bard's Tale IV. Unlike most games in the late 90's and early millenium, Bard's Tale has a great story that's missing in all these new hack-and-slash action RPGs. It's about time that game developers spend more time developing a good story instead of just pure graphics or animation. We need games these days that appeal to the mind, not just our eyes. For Bard's Tale IV, the potential is limitless...it has a tremendous name recognition, a great following amongst traditional RPG gamers, and is probably one of the most well-recognized RPG games in the history of the PCs. Any RPG fan you ask will probaby have played, heard of, or is a fanatic of Bard's Tale. So, please do reconsider a sequel to the Bard's Tale Series. I'll be the first to buy it!

i loved the bard tales series and i finished them all. i have characters so strong its unreal...but they are useless now that the series has ended... that is where a new installment should come to life. if ultima can be up to number 9 or so, i am sure bards tale can do the same and make a profit and be popular.

Bring back The Bard's Tale!!! We must have a 4th installment. I would pay ~ $50 for a new title. I think an update of the older games would also create some revenue for EA. The only thing I would change: make the game a little less geared toward totally destroying the player's party without giving them a chance! Also, they should stick with the auto-mapping feature. I can't draw worth a damn.

I am a huge Bard's Tale fan. I have beat both Bard's Tale One and Three and been very deep into Two. I would purchase a Fourth if for no other reason but to own it. I say yes to a Bard's Tale Four and hope these petitions will make a difference. The site that is hosting this needs more exposure also. I ran by this looking for information on Mail Order Monsters. Good Luck to us all.

Bard's Tale was the greatest RPG series ever made, except of Ultima of course, but the Ultima series was great in a different way, so you can't really compare them. Bard's Tale 3 was the first RPG I ever played (I was still a kid and played it on the old C64 of my brother). I think I was instantly fascinated by the magic of the game: the monsters, the bard songs, the spells... The graphics and especially the sounds were beautiful on the C64 - in my opinion far better than the incredibly bad IBM version! And the one thing that made Bard's Tale so special ? I believe it was the motivation. It sounds strange, but... I remember running around in dungeons for hours, killing monster after monster (while my friend mapped the dungeon), playing a bard song in the background and so on. It was so monotonous that you were happy when any special text appeared on the screen. Believe me, it really worked! And when you had come across a riddle, it was mostly a really hard one! Bard's Tale 3 was also a game where your party developed fast! It was so great to have those Geomancers killing 40 foes with just one spell... (which could also be done through the bard's Deathhorn, my favourite RPG item ever!) And another thing that I miss these days at many RPGs is the loss of imagination of the player. When I travelled with my party through Gelidia, I IMAGINED how they wandered across the icy plains. Nothing against great graphics, but they just take away the need for the players' imagination. I'd buy BT4 for sure, maybe it could be done in "Das Schwarze Auge 3" style, this would be the perfect combination of good old Bard's Tale gameplay and the possibilities of today's computers.

I got hooked on the bards tale series when some one gave me the first two in the series. I usually don't like RPG's, but the scroll down battles were appreciated more than actually seeing blood and guts. I'd probably still be in the tombs if it weren't for all the clues and fan support. There is a real need for a fourth in the series. Please make it so.

I fully support a Bard's Tale 4 project. While I love the current gaming environment, especially MMORPG's, I will always have a place for these classic games, and would gratefully welcome Bard's Tale 4 into my library.

I would be really happy if it were ported to Win CE so I can play on my portable device. I spend tons of time playing BT on my handheld...(in meetings...in class...at home).

Perhaps we could include some of the advantages of the current gaming environment and internet with the classic look and feel of BT.

Bardīs Tale I - III were my first 3 rpgs about 13 years ago... But even nowadays I remember the writing on the dungeon walls: "Mangar was here"... Killed the bastard in Bard's Tale I, awesome fight...

I bought a compilation with all three titles and some other great memories... (Wasteland, Dragon Wars ...)

But Bard's tale has no equal! :-)

Please make a fourth title!

I would like nothing more than a new Bard's Tale Adventure. I have been trying for two years and by using several copies I have bought from eBay, to get BT1 working on my Amiga 4000. I need an older model of Amiga though. I have several, but not with me, because I work on a very remote island in the Pacific.

The Bard's Tale series ROCKS!!! As an avid gamer, I'd rank it as by far the most captivating RPG ever made, the focus of many an all-nighter. The creative storyline compels you to plan your characters and plot the quest to the level that you feel like you're actually there ... that's entertainment at it's best.

Please license out a BT IV ... I know lots of people who would pay $75 easy for it. Keep the party creation, gameplay and all the same ... just update it with killer graphics and combat scenes where you see the effects of your fighting and spell casting commands. Thanks!

I like the first Bard's Tale best. Because of the graphics (later in BT2 & BT3 they got goofy and cartoon-like), the athmosphere, the special party member, the extra danger at night, the startup city, no mana recovery in dungeons, no monsters attacks if leaving your party standing unplayed for a while(like when eating dinner)...

I disliked: The AC's heavy influence on the to-hit factor. The empty doors in the startup town. Should be something easier and not so tedious.

The first game I played was a bugridden pirate copy I was given. (I bought the game very soon after...) But the best thing was that I had to start the game with no equipment or money what so ever. There was nothing in the shop and it was a real challenge to fight empty handed without knowledge of _rules_ and _spells_. Because of these difficulties it was the most exciting and fun game I have ever played.

I'd be willing to pay whatever it takes to play a fourth Bard's Tale.

Yes I dearly want to see Bard's Tale IV to appear!

Well what I want in this game is a better combat-system wherein there is initiative like in the games Fate - Gates of Dawn (reLine) or as in Pool of Radiance 2.

I prefer the first-person look as that was for instance in Wizardry 7.

Don't make it in 3D(fx), plain 2D will do ;-)

Don't bother with movies unless they add essential stuff to the game, but don't do as the guys from squaresoft in their FF's where everytime you call a special companion you get a animated sequence that keeps you minutes from gameplaying, further are the FF-games very good in their way of RPG.

Well I have played Bard's Tale, Dungeon Master, dungeon Master 2 (nice follow-up after all that years but on the short side, it ended too soon), Captive (very good game, one of my favorites!), all the SSI Gold Box games, Chaos Strikes Back, Dark Sun I and II, Dungeon Hack (well nice idea, very boring), Baldur's Gate I and (including the addons), Icewind Dale (including both addons), Torment (small part, to much talking), Lands of Lore (very entertaining), Eye of the Beholder I, II and III, Unlimited Adventures, Moria, Larn, Nethack, Rogue, Diablo (and Hellfire), Diablo II (with Lord of Destruction), preview version of Pool of Radiance 2, Wizardy 7, Wizards and Warriors, Mordor (liked this one very much, still on my computer), Demise (also still on my computer, play it from time to time continously), Fate - Gates of Dawn (in my opinion the BEST rpg ever made), Legend of Faerghail, Fallout, Fallout 2, Arcanum (very good indeed), Nox, Revenant, System Shock 1 and 2, The Elder Scrolls Arena, The Elder Scrolls Daggerfall, Descent to the Undermountain (the WORST I ever played, did not finish this one, one good point was that it came in a very nice box), Might & Magic III, IV, V and VI (hereafter they became boring), Stonekeep (i have still fine memories on this one). This is a summary of RPG-games I recall from memory that I have played.

I have NOT played any Ultima-game. Well I have tried some but never liked them.

What I want to pay for the game? I don't mind, if the product is good I will pay the at that moment normal price for it.

Greetings, Harry

Wow that it was only the single most engrossing game I ever played on a c-64. I had an archmage with 2700 hits! That is how many brain cells I lost while being captivated by BT-3 I would like to see BT-4 and would pay in the neighbourhood of 74.99(cdn) I like the way wizardry 7 was but I also think BT might be able to resemble baldurs gate. Turn Based games aren't dead! Please develop Bards Tales 4 The return of the thief!

Hi, as a long time player of Interplay games -- original Bard's Tale up to the conclusion of Baldur's Gate 2, I have to say that I would really welcome a Bard's Tale 4, perhaps using the Baldur's Gate engine.

As an experienced player I would be willing to spend the standard amount, maybe a little more, for such a great title -- perhaps a package that gives you all the Bard's Tales redone!

It was great. Loved it.

Hope to see more!

I would really love to see a Bards Tale 4. I have been playing bards tale 2 all my life (most of my characters are level 50 - 60), and I played bt3 a little bit. I think the bards tale games are by far the best rpg's as far as game play and addictiveness.

Let me say that it has been a very long time since I have played The Bard's Tale. The last time was probably sometime in the early 90's when I still had my commodore 128. I would still say that BT is without a doubt my favorite of all time games. The only other one that even comes close was possibly Diablo. But then that was not a role playing game. I for one would very much like to see another installment and maybe even a remake of the original for the newer PC's.

I would like to be added to your petition. When younger, I spent many years playing the 3 iterations of Bards Tale on the C64. I firmly believe that a fourth release would be very successful. I will write to the developer addresses you have listed.

Dear sir/madam,

I could still remember 15 years ago when I first played bards tale 1 on my trusty commodore 65.

Back then the old c64 was a very well known machine for games.

I could remember I stayed up late till morning trying to solve some of the puzzles of the game.

I can also say that I have finished bards tale 1 and 3 and 2 gave me some problems.

I would gladly like to sign the petition to bring out the next in line of the bards tale series.

Why wizardry 8 just came out not long ago ... why cant Bards tale 4 ?

Thanks in Advance !!!

Andy

Please look into making a Bard's Tale IV. It would be a great addition and people would buy it. It would give people like me, a person who played these games when I was younger, a break from the 40 hour a work week. I don't play computer games all the time, but it is nice to sit down with a game that makes you think. I love FPS just as much as the next guy, but producing a new Bard's Tale will give the gaming world a nice break. Thank you, Mike Emmer

Please bring another Bards Tale to my life. I still have my Commodore 64 and still play BT 1,2,and 3. I have a game going now! I've had to buy 4 games of BT 1 because I've worn them out. Now I can't find them any more. I would like to see all of them, even if they're in the original format, on a CD so I could continue playing them. Because I know, my old 64 is almost 20 years old and when it quits there just isn't any more. Please re-release them and continue the saga. Look what it did for Bauldursgate!?!?!!

I have already purchased the Ultimate RPG Archives. To play The Bard's Tale again brought back some fond memory's. While in High School TBT was the only game that I and a friend would play on his C64. To see another installment of this legend would be awesome. There are very few games that hold the title of legend, and TBT is right at the top. I feel that it would be very profiable on EA's part to either develop it or release the rights to someone who will. I'm not quite sure how it would look or feel as a game. However, with the advent of all the 3D games that are on the market I'm sure that there are several ideas.

mmm...The Bard's Tale: Legend of the Thief....(like the legend reference)

Anyways, I would give 110% (play time) to "THE" game.

that is probably the best idea i've heard in a long time... BT was and still is the most enjoyable RPG experience I ever had. Who needs fancy graphics and 3D views which, to be honest, just confuse and frustrate. Roll on BT IV is what I say!

P.S. I really wouldnīt be bothered about the cost of such a game, as bringing back those childhood memories would be priceless to me.
