The View from the Corner for Jan 01, 2005 Back to View Index

Your author, Troy H. Cheek "Happy Near Year's 2005" by Troy H. Cheek on Jan 01, 2005

Well, I'm writing this a little early, as we're still in the middle of December of 2004, but now's as good a time as any to tell you of the upcoming changes for 2005 here at Cheek.Org aka Catfish Corner.

First of all, our award winning The View from the Corner feature has been moved to its own subpage. For those who don't know, it's kind of a combination blog, family history, autobiographical, southern fiction sort of thing. Or I just write about updates to the website. I hope to increase updates from the current weekly to maybe bi- or tri-weekly. I'm not even going to consider daily yet. I did near-daily updates for a month back in April 2004 and it about killed me. I also swear that I will finally get around to converting some of my old *.txt files to that fancy new HTML format I've been hearing about lately.

Secondly, I've finally removed my old Candles and Candle Making page. It wasn't getting a lot of hits, and I can't remember the last time I got an email about it. Actually, I think I can. Someone wanted to feature one of my projects in some webzine which features crafts projects of/by/for women. She got very upset with me when I told her that while she were certainly welcome to use the project, I needed to correct her misconception that I was female. Apparently, all those mentions of having a girlfriend and being not able to understand women just mean that I'm a lesbian or transgender or something.

Healthcare Security will probably go next. Sure, I spend an awful lot of time working in the field of healthcare security, but not an awful lot of time actually writing anything about it. The last few items I have written have ended up in The View from the Corner anyway. Likewise, I've written quite a bit in the past about the game Star Fleet Command, but haven't played the game in so long that I don't even know if it has ever graced my current harddrive.

I haven't played Bard's Tale in forever, either, but since I'm currently the official keeper of both the Bard's Tale IV Petition ($link:http://www.cheek.org/bard/petit.htm$) and the Bard's Tale Webring ($link:http://webring.org/hub?ring=bt$), and since news about Bard's Tale actually still interests me, I've no plans to shut down that part of my site any time soon.
